 ichiro Nambu\, 2008 Nobel Prize Laureate in\nPhysics\, published the influ
 ential paper "Generalized Hamiltonian Mechanics"\nin which a generalizatio
 n of Hamiltonian mechanics\, today called Nambu\nmechanics\, is presented.
  The governing equations in Nambu's framework are obtained from several "H
 amiltonian" functions\, each corresponding to a conservation law.\nWithin 
 numerical analysis the concept of "geometric numerical integration" has gr
 own rapidly since 1990. The idea is to construct numerical time-integratio
 n methods that preserve various geometric structures which occur in mechan
 ics and theoretical physics\, e.g. symmetries. Such methods are superior t
 o previous methods\, since they give a qualitatively correct description o
 f the dynamics\, for example in terms of energy conservation.\nVariable ti
 me-step adaptivity for geometric integrators is realised through time-tran
 sformations. Somewhat surprisingly\, it  turns out that such transformatio
 ns naturally can be described with Nambu's mechanics. Thus\, Nambu mechani
 cs is an excellent framework for the construction and analysis of adaptive
