Description
The question is relevant in radiation physics (radiation damage to DNA). A quantitative answer is not yet known, but a first step is taken by applying exact quantum scattering theory to electrons scattered in a highly simplified model of water. The water molecules are regarded as point scatterers, and inelastic scattering is neglected.
