Description
Higher spin fields of mixed symmetry are inevitable whenever the space-time dimension is greater than five, and are key components of the massive spectra of String Theory. They are usually described in terms of fields and gauge parameters subject to trace constraints, and indeed bosonic Lagrangians and non-Lagrangian fermionic equations of this type were first constructed in the eighties. In this talk I will describe the key features of unconstrained Lagrangians and field equations for arbitrary free bosonic and fermionic fields of this type in flat space.
