The dynamics of quantum vorticity (vortex lines) is an essential ingredient in a realistic theory of neutron star seismology. After reviewing (for the non-expert) vortex dynamics and its connection to superfluid dynamics, I will argue that pinning of vortices to nuclei is inevitable throughout most of the inner crust. I will discuss the implications for neutron star modes, focusing on precession (nutation) as an example. I will highlight what we don't know, and propose directions for future progress.
