Description
The general theme of transport phenomena far from equilibrium will be illustrated with two specific examples: (i) the motion of single (colloidal) particles in the direction opposite to the mean applied force (negative mobility), and (ii) the separation of DNA-fragments in a microfluidic chip by exploiting dielectrophoretic effects. Particular focus is on developing the theoretical models for describing the dynamical behavior of such systems, and on the physical mechanisms underlying the observed effects.
