Matrix models and Chern-Simons theory

I will present the matrix model description of Chern-Simons theory in its simplest cases, mostly U(N) Chern-Simons theory on S ^3. I will also show how different limits of observables in the Chern-Simons theory are related to quantities in supersymmetric gauge theories.
