Description
I will talk about research projects I did at the Swiss Light Source and will try to outline the possibilities that will open up at the new MAX IV source. X-rays allow to make magnetism visible and to study magnetic excitations as well as the appearance and disappearance of magnetism on an ultra-fast and microscopic scale. I provide two examples: ultra-fast magnetization in FeRh, and magnetic excitations in artificial micron-sized soft magnetic structures. MAX IV will open to users in the summer of 2016 and provide x-rays of unprecedented intensity and quality. This will provide big improvements for current users, but will also open new research areas. Most welcome!
