Cactus is an open-source computational framework designed to simplify the development of parallel scientific applications. It was initially developed for the numerical relativity, but also successfully applied in other areas. This talk will give a review of some basic features of Cactus and the Einstein toolkit, the Cactus-based collection of codes for relativistic astrophysics.
