DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Gian Francesco Giudice (CERN)\n\nThe main reason to
expect new discoveries in the upcoming high-energy run of the LHC is based
on the naturalness principle\, which states that new phenomena must occur
below the TeV scale\, taming the quantum corrections related to the Higgs
field. Is it possible to construct consistent theories that evade the con
sequences of the naturalness principle? Is approximate scale-invariance a
valid justification for the absence of any new physics around the TeV? In
this talk\, I explore these questions finding some surprisingly concrete r
esults from speculative hypotheses on the behaviour of nature at infinitel
 y small distances.\n\nhttps://indico.fysik.su.se/event/4939/
