Description
Seeing is believing! The most rewarding method to study exoplanets, the protoplanetary disks in which they are born, and the ghostly rings of debris they leave behind, is to take resolved images of them. While this poses extreme technical challenges, an ongoing wave of innovation provides us with ever more sophisticated tools to overcome them. In this talk, I will start with a wide introduction to direct imaging and then gradually narrow the focus onto the particularly interesting cases of the AU Microscopii debris disk and the LkCa 15 protoplanetary disk.
