Correspondence between E10 and supergravity

The motivation and basic properties of the conjectured correspondence between supergravity and E10 will be reviewed. Starting from the cosmological billiards picture a D=1 sigma model based on an E10 coset was proposed by Damour, Henneaux and Nicolai to be an equivalent description of the D=11 supergravity dynamics. I will present old and new evidence for this conjecture and demonstrate how to use it to construct cosmological solutions.
