Description
The diffusion of a Brownian ellipsoid in a force field is studied. Such diffusion is dominated by the initial particle orientation at short times, and shows an anisotropic behaviour. At long times, when the initial orientation has been “forgotten”, a “net" effective diffusion arises. This long-term motion results as an average behaviour from the particle rotation and translation on short time scales. In this talk, I will present how to perform an analysis with the multi scale method to derive the effective equations of motion valid on long times. Moreover I will show numerical simulations that verify the theoretical results. The talk is mainly based on EPL, 114-30005 (2016).
