Description
Stripped-envelope supernovae (SE-SNe) represent a spectacular end to the life of massive stars that have lost much of their outer envelope. These SNe show considerable diversity in energy, luminosity, and ejecta mass and they are also the only supernova group associated with gamma-ray bursts. In this talk I will focus on two aspects of SE-SN observations. Firstly, the properties derived from bolometric light curves, including rise and decay times, luminosity distributions, and 56Ni yields. Secondly, I will discuss how the spectral characteristics can be used to investigate the physical properties of the SN and the progenitor star. The results of this work has implications for binary and single star progenitor pathways of SE-SNe.
