Microwave background observations probe the physical conditions in the early universe. I will explore how the current observations constrain inflationary models and discuss the possibility of detecting distinctive signatures of various inflationary models: primordial non-Gaussainity, cosmic strings, isocurvatures modes and gravitational waves.
