Cosmology with Cosmic Voids - Giorgia Pollina & Nico Hamaus (LMU, Munich)

Europe/Stockholm
Description

Cosmic voids in the large-scale structure of the Universe are currently entering the realm of precision cosmology. Most ongoing and future surveys are considering them in one way or another. The aim is to extract cosmological information that is complementary to what is already accessible via the traditional probes. In this talk we will present some recent highlights from the analysis of cosmic voids in both simulated, as well as observational data. In the first part we will discuss some ongoing work that aims at bridging gaps between theory and observations in order to fully use all void statistics for cosmological purposes. In the second part we will review how we are presently using voids to put constraints on cosmological parameters,  from dynamic and geometric distortions of voids in SDSS, measurements of gravitational lensing around voids in DES, and the signatures from primordial non-Gaussianity and massive neutrinos on voids in simulations.
