 \n\nDates and Venue\n11–29 May 2026 - Nordita\, AlbaNova\, Hannes Alfvé
 ns väg 12\, 114 19 Stockholm\, Sweden\n\nScope\nThis interdisciplinary No
rdita Scientific Program will bring together world-leading experts in astr
ophysical and laboratory plasma physics to explore and discuss the synergi
es among the different research strands and scientific communities.\nDue t
o the breadth of the realm of plasma physics\, these communities operate v
ery independently and with limited interaction across discipline borders.
However\, our common interest in the discovery and understanding of fundam
ental processes in complex plasma systems offers great opportunities for c
ross-fertilisation and bi-directional exchange of ideas\, as well as the e
xploration of common themes and concepts.\nThe central goal of this Scient
ific Program is to break the community barriers and to open a pathway towa
rds more detailed and larger-scale\, synergistic follow-on research projec
ts and collaborations.\n\nThemes and preliminary program schedule\nWe will
have three one-week workshops focusing on three scientific themes that cu
t across the discipline boundaries in terms of their relevance:\nWeek 1 (1
1-15 May): Transition from collisional to collisionless regimes\;Week 2 (1
8-22 May): Energy conversion through magnetic reconnection\; andWeek 3 (25
-29 May): Turbulence and wave-particle interactions. The three Workshops wi
ll be back-to-back. Participants are welcome to join the program for one s
ingle week\, but we encourage attendance to more than one week.\nEach week
we will have a fixed format\, including plenary talks on the four involve
 d disciplines (Monday)\, individual short\, discussion-based contributions
  (Tuesday)\, interactive and inter-disciplinary collaboration (Wednesday a
nd Thursday)\, and consolidation of the discussions and planning for follo
w-up collaborations and publications (Friday). Wednesday afternoon will b
e dedicated to free time and/or social activities (TBD).\n\nInvited speake
rs\nThere will be 12 plenary talk\, one for each topic/week and per each c
ommunity. The following list will be updated in the upcoming weeks.\nWeek
 1 (collisions)\n\nSpace: Peter Yoon (University Maryland\, USA)\n\nWeek 2
 (reconnection)\n\nSpace: Yuri Khotyaintsev (IRF Uppsala\, Sweden)\nFusion:
Barbara Momo (ISTP/CNR\, Padova\, Italy)\nLaboratory: Hiroshi Tanabe (Tok
 yo University\, Japan)\nLaboratory: Hantao Ji (PPPL\, USA)\nAstro: Lorenzo
  Sironi (Columbia University\, USA)\n\nWeek 3 (turbulence and wave-partic
 le interactions)\n\nSpace: Julia Stawarz (Northumbria University\, UK)\nFu
sion: Maurizio Giacomin (Padova University\, Italy)\nAstro: Jennifer Shobe
 r (Bonn University\, Germany)\n\n\nAccommodation\nFor suggestions on accom
modation possibilities see the Nordita webpage on accommodation here.\nNor
dita may provide a limited number of rooms at the Stockholm apartment hote
l Biz Apartment free of charge for participants that need support (e.g. y
ounger researchers\, see below)\, which will be allocated after applicatio
n evaluation. Accommodation for families is possible upon request and dep
ends on availability. No family rooms have been booked in advance.\n\nTrav
el and accommodation support\nThere will be a (very) limited number of par
tial or full travel grants available\, mostly intended for PhD students an
d young Postdoc fellows. If you are interested in such a support\, please
contact the organizers\, and provide a rough estimate of your expenses (tr
avel and/or accommodation).\n\nApplication/Registration\nIf you want to ap
ply for participation in the program\, please fill in the registration/ap
plication form. \nDue to space restrictions\, the total number of partici
pants is strictly limited. You will be informed by the organizers shortly
after the application deadline whether your application has been approved.
\nRegistration deadline to be considered for on-site participation will
be April 5\, 2026. Registrants will receive a participation confirmation f
rom the organizers after this date.\nThere is no registration fee for the
 accepted participants.\n\nOrganizing Committee\nLuca Sorriso-Valvo (CNR/IS
 TP\, Bari\, Italy\, and KTH\, Stockholm\, Sweden)\nSanja Danilovic (Stockh
olm University\, Sweden)\nFatima Ebrahimi (Princeton Plasma Physics Labora
tory\, USA)\nAurora Simionescu (Netherlands Institute for Space Research\,
  Leiden\, Netherlands)\nDaniel Verscharen (MSSL\, University College\, Lon
 don\, UK)\nMatteo Zuin (CNR/ISTP and Consorzio RFX\, Padova\, Italy)\n \n
