DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Thomas Bland (Lund University)\n\nSpeaker: Thomas Bl
and (Lund University).\nAbstract: When combined with the high controllabil
ity of ultracold atomic systems\, the long-range and anisotropic dipole-di
pole interaction opens the door to a plethora of fascinating and novel phe
nomena. At the mean-field level\, thousands of atoms can spontaneously coa
lesce into a state that is both superfluid and solid simultaneously--a sta
te known as a supersolid. I will highlight recent theoretical advances in
understanding the roles of the constituent solid and superfluid parts in t
his state\, and highlight recent experimental confirmations of these predi
ctions. In the many-body limit\, ultracold magnetic atoms in optical latti
ces offer a versatile platform for exploring strongly correlated quantum p
hases. Through analytical and numerical analysis\, I will present recent r
esults that reveal a rich phase diagram featuring distinct superconducting
  and symmetry-protected topological phases.\n\nhttps://indico.fysik.su.se/
