Description
The Photo chemistry of UV-excited DNA bases and base pairs shows dynamics on a femtosecond time scale and is here studied by time-resolved photo electron spectroscopy. A new photoelectron-photoion coincidence spectrometer was designed and built to study isolated base pairs. Advantages and disadvantages with this technique are discussed and results presented. What makes DNA photo stable to UV radiation ?
