DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Ivan Khaymovich\n\nThe Master's programmes in Physic
s at Fysikum\, SU cover a wide range of topics\, spreading from the basic
courses in Statistical Physics\, Electrodynamics\, and Analytical mechanic
s\, to more advanced ones in General  Relativity\, Cosmology\, Quantum Fi
eld Theory\, Fluid Dynamics\, and even recently established Group Theory a
nd Open Quantum Systems. With many standard courses in classical and quantu
m fields\, the topics of solid state physics\, especially in terms of elec
tronic properties of such systems\, where many of the lecturers from Fysik
um like Eddy Ardonne\, Maria Hermanns\, Emil Bergholtz\, Jonas Ola Oscar L
arson\, Stefano Bonetti\, Andreas Rydh and many others)\,  do their resea
rch\, are represented mostly by Quantum Field Theory for Condensed Matter.
In this respect\, the complimentary topics of quantum transport\, interfer
ence effects\, semiclassical approximation\, especially in disordered quan
tum solid-state systems might be of particular interest for Master student
s at Fysikum. Quantum localization corrections to the Drude conductivity i
n generic solid state physics and Anderson localization\, emerging out of
their divergence\,  gives a simple\, though remarkable example of single-
particle quantum phenomena where particle-wave duality reveals itself in a
macroscopic quantum phenomenon of the localization of excitations in diso
rdered conducting media.Applicability of this inteference-based phenomenon
to various quantum wave systems\, spreading from electrons and spins to s
ound waves and light excitations\, makes it useful for other topics and co
 urses in the programme.\n\nhttps://indico.fysik.su.se/event/9444/
