Modern AI tools are rapidly changing how we write and think about software. AI can support the development process from brainstorming and planning to implementation and testing.
We explore practical ways of working with AI in research and development settings, including agentic coding workflows with tools such as Claude Code and Codex, and the emerging idea of vibe coding. Examples include physics simulations, visualizations, and porting code from one language to another. We discuss where human judgment remains essential and how to integrate AI into a disciplined development process without sacrificing quality or understanding.

About the speaker: Mathias Ljungberg received his PhD in Chemical Physics from Stockholm University in 2010. He then held postdoctoral positions in Barcelona, Bordeaux, and San Sebastián before moving to industry in 2017. After transitioning into AI and Data Science, he worked both as a consultant and in larger companies. He is currently working on a project at Fysikum, Stockholm University, developing neural network molecular force fields.
