DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Aysel Shiralieva (University of Würzburg)\n\nOpen q
uantum systems in the Markovian regime can be approximately described by n
on-Hermitian Hamiltonians (NHHs) and Liouvillian superoperators. The two a
pproaches differ by quantum jump terms corresponding to a measurement of t
he system by its environment. We analyze the emergence of exceptional poin
ts (EPs) in NHHs and Liouvillian superoperators. In particular\, we show h
ow EPs in NHHs relate to a novel type of EPs --- multi-block EPs --- in th
 e no-jump Liouvillian\, i.e. the Liouvillian superoperator in absence of q
uantum jump terms. We further analyze how quantum jump terms modify the mu
lti-block structure. To illustrate our general findings\, we present two p
rime examples: qubits and qutrits coupled to additional ground state level
s that serve as sinks of the population. In those examples\, we can naviga
te through the EP block structure by a variation of physical parameters. W
e analyze how the dynamics of the population of the states is affected by
the order of the EPs. Additionally\, we demonstrate that the quantum geome
tric tensor serves as a sensitive indicator of EPs of different kinds.  F
inally\, we extend our analysis to non-Markovian evolution within framewor
ks where a time-local master equation can be expressed into a Lindblad-lik
 e form.\n\nhttps://indico.fysik.su.se/event/9662/
