DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Chris Wheat\n\nButterflies are amazing in many ways\
, one of which is being incredibly colorful. Why does color vary so much a
cross species and sometimes even between the sexes\, or among individuals
of the same sex? To get deep insights into these questions\, my lab explor
es color variation in butterflies in diverse ways. We study how color has
evolved across deep time\, investigating color change across all of Europe
s butterflies. We also study these dynamics in more recent time\, trying t
o understand the dynamics behind color variation within a butterflies spec
ies. Come to my talk if you want to learn about how some of the latest adv
ances in biology are being used in Stockholm to reveal the mysteries of th
e butterflies in our backyards.\nNote: This event is open to the junior a
 udience only\, including undergraduate\, master’s\, and PhD students\, a
 s well as postdocs.\n\nhttps://indico.fysik.su.se/event/9723/
