Description
In recent years sensitive instrumentation has become available for measuring magnetic fields in stars. With these instruments fields have been found in stars of all spectral types and in all evolutionary phases. As magnetic fields are likely related to many currently poorly understood phenomena, increasing our understanding of magnetic fields is of great importance for many different branches of astronomy. The unique detail with which we can observe magnetic phenomena on the Sun can help us to do just that.
