The Ferromagnetic Transition in LiHoF_4

Description
Using Monte Carlo simulations we confirm that the rare-earth compound LiHoF_4 is indeed a very good realization of a dipolar Ising model. Using parallell tempering methods we are able to give strong direct evidence of the logarithmic corrections predicted in renormalization group theory. Due to the long range and angular dependence of the dipolar model domains play a crucial role in the ordered state. In order to account for this we develop a theory for the magnetic domains and predict the ground-state domain structure.
