Description
String theory is a very successful candidate for a unified description of quantum field theory and gravity. In this talk, I will discuss attempts to construct the Standard Model of Particle Physics from string theory compactifications. My main focus will be on a recently found class of supersymmetric Standard Model-like spectra in globally consistent intersecting D6-brane models, in particular advances towards a more detailed understanding of their four dimensional couplings.
