I will briefly review the recent developments in exploring the
phenomenology of WIMP dark matter effects on stars in different
astrophysical environments. In particular, I will focus on the peculiar
Population III -the first stellar generation to form in a LCDM scenario-
and on the different mechanisms by which WIMP dark matter can affect the
properties of their formation and evolution. I will elaborate on the
possibilities to use these 'per se' interesting astrophysical processes as
a probe for dark matter properties.
