Description
I will present recent and new results from our studies of kinematical and
chemical structures in the solar neighbourhood. I will particularly bring up the
Hercules stream and discuss its propoerties and what they might tell us about
its origin. I will also discuss our attempts to trace the Galactic thick disk
to its highest metallicitities, where it possibly ends, how it relates to the thin
disk, and what it means for the origin and evolution of the two disks.
