While for main-sequence stars there are well established relationships
between stellar fundamental parameters such as mass, luminosity and
radius, the situation is not as clear for the rapidly evolving
pre-main-sequence stars. I will show how high-resolution spectroscopy of
young eclipsing binaries is an essential tool for recovering fundamental
parameters of young stars, and illustrate with some example systems.
