Description
I will review out some of the basic problems, tricks and insights in the field of frustrated magnetism. I will also discuss some general classes of competing ground state candidates in these systems, and I in particular describe some recent work on the Heisenberg model on the two-dimensional kagome lattice. Finally I will discuss an ongoing attempt to extend this analysis to the hyper-kagome lattice, relevant for the recently studied sodium iridate compound (Na4Ir3O8).
