Description
Nuclear science today is focused on three broad but highly related research frontiers: (1) quantum chromodynamics, which ultimately will tell us how nuclei are held together; (2) the structure of atomic nuclei and nuclear astrophysics, which addresses the origin of the elements; and (3) a new standard model of fundamental particles. Through these research frontiers, nuclear scientists are addressing the basic questions that drive our field. Some of these questions will be highlighted in this presentation, with a focus on a broadly understood strongly-interacting many-body problem.
