Tomas Brage and Sara Goodman will be presenting the course “Genus i naturvetenskap och teknik” (Gender relations in the natural and physical sciences and engineering). This course is interdisciplinary and directed towards undergraduate students in the Faculties of Natural Sciences, Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences. The purpose of the course is to introduce students to gender research and theories of gender that focus upon research on gender in the fields of social studies of science and technology. As part of the course, the students carry out a project related to their education using questions, methods and theories from gender research. While earlier courses have been given on gender, technology and science have been based at the Centre of Gender Studies, Lund University, this course is unique in being initiated by and placed at the Faculties of Natural Science and Engineering and explicitly directed to the students of these respective faculties. Course planning and development has been done in cooperation with the Centre for Gender Studies. Brage and Goodman will give a short presentation of the course and some reflections upon the experience from the course.
