Analytic approach to confinement in 3d Yang-Mills theory

Description
We have formulated a Hamiltonian approach to 3d Yang-Mills theory
in terms of manifestly gauge invariant variables. This provides a method of
analyzing nonperturbative effects and has led to a number of interesting results
on the mass gap, vacuum wavefunction and string tension. I will review this
approach and also discuss more recent results on adjoint string-breaking.
