Description
The now operating ATLAS detector of the Large Hadron Collider, the LHC, is designed for detecting 7 TeV + 7 TeV centre of mass proton proton colli- sions with a luminosity of 1034 cm−2s−1. In order to increase the statistics, an upgrade of the luminosity by 10 times, is planned within 10 years time. This project concerns the entailing upgrade of the ATLAS level 1 muon trigger. A method to include the Monitored Drift Tubes, a part of the muon system, into the Level 1 Muon Trigger has been developed. Further, a framework for the evaluation of different methods have been constructed. This framework has then been employed to evaluate parts of method developed.
