Description
Massive starburst galaxies and quasars are thought to represent early phases in the evolution of the nearby massive galaxies. Observations of high redshift galaxies provide a view back in time, making it possible to study the early stages of present-day galaxies and evolution of the cosmic star formation history. I will present some of our recent detections of molecular gas in high redshift starburst and quasars. I will also present
new ALMA results for submillimeter galaxies in the LABOCA Extended Chandra Deep Field South Submm Survey.
