Description
Should you take the micro stance and go for more detail? Or macro with better control over assumptions? In the old days this divide was more an interesting hypothetical topic of debate than a real hard issue. Today micro is not a fiction and we have an increasing responsibility to convey what exactly it is we can learn from our simulations. Rather than clearing up the issue, I hope to inspire thought and invite to discussion by presenting two of my projects which enact the quarrel. The first is a SARS-simulation incorporating aggregated travel data in Sweden showing the positive effect of certain travel restrictions. The second is a microsimulation of influenza based on exact population data.
