Description
Introduction into NPS research for reactor safety is presented with an interest to severe accident phenomena taking place after core degradation and melting. Actuality of the research and need of safety improvement of existing and future NPPs are illustrated by several examples of severe accidents of commercial units, including the recent one in Japan. General objectives of severe accident research, in particularly in Sweden, are listed.
