Presentation of the DESIREE project

In a collaborative effort of the Atomic and Molecular Physics groups at SU and the Manne Siegbahn Laboratory a 'Double ElectroStatic Ion Ring ExpEriment (DESIREE)' has been designed. The primary purpose of this instrument is to study the interaction between cold molecular positive and negative ions at low relative energies. The instrument will consist of two electrostatic ion storage rings with a common straight section where the two beams are merged. In the seminar the design will be described and some ideas for future experiments will be discussed.
