Flow cytometry and biosensor technology for protein analysis

Flow cytometry instrumentation allows for high-throughput analysis and physical sorting of cells and particles according to their size and fluorescence characteristics. Through careful design of experimental parameters, many bioanalytical problems can be converted into fluorescence read-out, making the instrumentation a versatile and important tool. A second core instrument at the department is a surface plasmon resonance-based biosensor instrument (Biacore) which allows for label-free and sensitive kinetic and stoichiometric analyses of biomolecular interactions.
