Present development in ulttrafast laser spectroscopy is rapid, both on laser side and with respect to post-laser pulse manipulation, and quite diverse in different fialds of science. I will in this talk concentrate on ultrafast laser spectroscopy applications in the molecular sciances with some side tracks to atomic and life sciences. Some major trends within these scientific subfields are to be found in the drive to create attosecond light pulses with the aim to get a grasp on electronic motion, diffraction experiments to resolve atomic positions in real time, ultrahigh intensity to create 'new' physics, and pulse manipulation to achieve and explore coherent control
