Description
Irreversible dissipative processes such as chemical reaction and
diffusion can make fluctuation grow in far-from-equilibrium open chemical
systems. The growth of fluctuation gives rise to self-organized states
such as chemical oscillations and spatial patterns called dissipative
structure. Origins of homochirality in biomolecules can also be regarded
as an example of the dissipative structure. The chiral symmetry breaking
transition leads to the spontaneous generation of homochiral state.
