Description
With advances in observational astronomy, especially with IFU surveys such as SAURON, a more detailed picture of nearby elliptical galaxies emerges. Kinematical features such as decoupled components, gas disks, velocity dispersion dips and many others seem to be commonplace. How does the merging of galaxies fit into the picture? Tell-tale signature of merging, orbital structure of merger remants, the influence of gas and dry merging will be discussed.
