Description
Extrasolar planets that transit the disc of their parent stars have greatly increased our field of investigation by giving access to the mean planet density and to some of their atmospheric properties. I will review recent advances in this field, settling the context in which the CoRoT satellite was launched, one year ago. First results of CoRoT will be presented and compared to previous expectations.
