Description
The Kerr black hole is a model of a stationary rotating black hole in Einstein gravity, and is expected to be the unique spacetime with this properties, and in addition dynamically stable. A key fact in proving these statements is the algebraically special nature of the Kerr geometry, which leads to separability and integrability properties for fields on the Kerr spacetime. In this talk I will describe some remarkable features of the Kerr and related black hole geometries and discuss some ongoing work on the stability problem.
