Description
Driven by ATP hydrolysis, F1-ATPase (F1) is a rotary motor protein that can efficiently convert chemical energy to mechanical work of rotation via fine coordination of its conformational motions and reaction sequences. In this talk, I will introduce some attractive features of F1 as a nano-machine from the statistical physics point of view. By emphasizing on its difference from macro-machines, I will discuss some open questions and possible opportunities in the studies of F1 that could be interesting to physicists who want to bridge between theories and single molecule experiments.
