Quantum Turbulence in Trapped atomic superlfuid

We describe the sequence of experiments demonstrating the emergence and characterization of turbulence in a degenerate gas of Rb atoms. The overall nucleation of vortices and the evolution to turbulence is described. Special hydrodynamic properties acquired by the fluid during the turbulent regime are investigated. Momentum and energy distribution are obtained to verify power law behavior that implies on a cascade mechanism for the flow of energy. New perspectives in the field are discussed.
