Nordita, Stockholm, Sweden
Recent advances in the band theory of crystalline materials have singled out topology as a key ingredient in the modern classification of matter, with major impact on measurable electronic properties. Topological band theory has also grown into an emerging paradigm in many areas of physics, and is now used to characterize metamaterials, including photonic, atomic, acoustic, and elastic systems, in both the quantum and classical regimes. As our understanding of topology in physics widens, the incorporation of out-of-equilibrium phenomena is also gaining importance.
This Nordita program will bring together many of the leading experts in the field to provide a fertile environment for advancing both cutting-edge theory and applications of topology to matter. The program encompasses a wide spectrum of research activities in the field of topological quantum matter, from crystalline materials to metamaterials, naturally including out-of-equilibrium phenomena. By providing an arena where different fields of topological matter meet, the program aims to further enhance the developments in this rapidly expanding field of physics.

If you want to apply for participation in the program, please fill in the application form. You will be informed by the organizers shortly after the application deadline whether your application has been approved. Due to space restrictions, the total number of participants is strictly limited. Invited speakers are automatically approved, but still need to register.
The minimum stay for participation in the program is one week, but longer stays are highly encouraged. Nordita aims to provide all program participants with adequate work desk space. Shorter term stays are allowed for the conference, but we encourage all conference participants to consider also staying for (part of) the regular program.
Application deadline: 1 April 2019
Nordita provides a limited number of rooms in the Stockholm apartment hotel BizApartments free of charge for accepted participants.
Limited travel support is also available, with preference to younger participants. Please indicate in the comments field an estimate of your expected travel expenses, and how much of the expenses you are able to cover from other sources.
