In the last decades, the study of nonequilibrium physical systems have played a major role in the physics community. As remarkable signatures of nonequilibrium behaviour are found in the study of fluctuations of these processes, considerable effort is nowadays drawn towards uncovering general laws and theories of fluctuations. In particular, first-passage time observables have also been shown to be excellent indicators of out-of-equilibrium behaviour.
This workshop aims to bring together both experts and young researchers in the field to reflect on the current day status of fluctuation theories and of first-passage time observables, as well as future directions and open problems.
The workshop will cover theory as well as applications, e.g., to stochastic thermodynamics, climate science, etc. Attendance is open to theorists and experimentalists, physicists and applied mathematicians, interested in the topic.
We will have 4 invited talks (40+10 mins), 14 contributed talks (20+5 mins), and plenty of time to discuss. Talks will focus on fluctuation theories and first-passage time studies and will range from theory to applications and experiments.
We will accept contributed speakers until the program is full.
