Course at Karlstad University
7.5 ECTS credits
Week 14–22, 2025
Hybrid format: taught on site and over zoom.

This advanced course offers a comprehensive introduction to quantum many-body physics, focusing on emergent collective phenomena in condensed matter and quantum field theory. Students will gain proficiency in second quantization, path integrals, Green’s functions, and linear response theory, applying these methods to topics such as Fermi liquids, superconductors, and quantum spin liquids. The course also explores fractionalization, topological order, and emergent gauge fields, providing insight into modern theoretical developments.

Assessment consists of oral presentations, written assignments, and an individual oral exam, ensuring a rigorous and interactive learning experience. The course equips participants with essential analytical tools for research in theoretical condensed matter physics.
