Detailed calculation of the structure of vortices in the inner crust and of their interaction with the nuclear clusters have appeared only recently. They will be reviewed, pointing out that quantal effects associated with nuclear structure give rise to a qualitatively different picture of the pinning process, as compared to previous work.
