In this talk I will discuss the evidence for a dark Universe and use it to explore
possible alternatives to the standard scenario; that Einstein's General Theory of
Relativity is not the final theory of gravity, that the Copernican Principle may
not be obeyed or that the optical properties of the Universe may be different
to that a continuous fluid.
